Fall Benefit such a great success!
Each of these vignettes
offers a looking glass into lives that have been brightened by adoption,
yet each prism of light could never reflect the adoption journey as
a whole. Compiled by a mother and daughter who were brought together
by adoption comes this heartwarming collection of true stories that
weave a rich tapestry of the adoption experience from many different
perspectives: birth mothers, adoptive parents and grandparents, and
adopted children and adults.
These inspiring stories reveal the challenges and
joys of the lifelong adoption journey--the pain of letting go of a
child; the wonderment of meeting your perfect child halfway around
the world; the struggle and sacrifice of single parents; and the eventual
bonding when becoming a family.
These stories will appeal to anyone affected by
adoption, whether you are thinking about adoption, you have been adopted
yourself, or you are at any other point in the adoption process. While
the stories touch on the various aspects of the journey, the emotions
conveyed are universal to those who have been touched by the love,
hope and joy of being blessed by a child who was "born in their
hearts."
As founder and executive director of The
Alliance for Children adoption agency, Filis Casey has contributed
to the formation of nearly 5,000 new families through adoption. Marisa
Catalina Casey is a masters candidate in the Program in Arts Administration
at Teachers College Columbia University. She hopes to one day start
a nonprofit arts organization to benefit youth.
The proceeds from the sale of this book are to support
the works of the The Alliance
for Children Foundation. Its mission is to alleviate the suffering
of children who are abandoned and living in orphanages around the
world. The Foundation seeks to provide the most vulnerable children
with basic care including shelter, medical care, vaccines, as well
