About the Alliance For Children Foundation

Established in 2000 with a leadership gift from an adoptive family, the Alliance for Children Foundation seeks to alleviate the suffering of abandoned children living in orphanages around the world.

Mission Statement

The Foundation is an international relief organization dedicated to improving the physical and emotional well being of abandoned children living in orphanages in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. The Foundation's projects in medical care, basic needs, and education seek to heal, strengthen and empower the world's most vulnerable children, especially those who are less likely to be adopted due to age or special needs. The Foundation's programs provide these children with an otherwise impossible opportunity for a better future.

“May 14, 2002, was the most frightening day of my life. I found out for certain what I had already suspected: I was sixteen and pregnant. What was I supposed to do? How was I going to tell my parents? I had never been more scared. I put off breaking the news as long as I could. Finally I told my mom. Her reaction was what I expected but she added, ‘We will get through this.’ The next day we both told my dad. Trying to digest the unsettling news was very stressful for us all. My mom and dad who had been adopted, felt strongly that adoption was our only option. How could I care for a baby when I couldn’t take care of myself?”
