Haiti Adoption Program

Children available for adoption
* Infants, toddlers and children up to the age of 6 are available for adoption.
* Children are in orphanages.
* Children are tested for HIV and Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Sickle Cell prior to referral.

Adoption eligibility requirements
* Couples married at least ten years are eligible to adopt.
* Families may have up to two biological children already living in the home, and any number of adopted or stepchildren.
* Single women over 35 are eligible to adopt if they have been divorced or widowed.
* Parents must be age 35 to 50.

Process before travel
* Satisfy the laws of the state where applicant resides.
* Complete a home study by a licensed agency or social worker.

Travel requirements
* Parents are encouraged to visit during the wait if they are able.
* At least one parent must travel.
* Families can spend less than one week in country.

The Alliance for Children adoption agency assists families throughout the entire adoption process, which includes document gathering, dossier processing, child referral, travel and visits, accommodations and the in-country process.
