Adoption Resources

Joint Council on International Children's Services (JCICS)
JCICS is an association of licensed, nonprofit international adoption agencies, promoting ethical practices and effective services for children. JCICS member agencies (including the Alliance) subscribe to established standards of practice designed to protect the rights of children, birth parents, and adoptive parents.

Child Welfare Information Gateway
A service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Child Welfare Information Gateway provides access to information and resources to help protect children and strengthen families. This web site has an in-depth section on adoption.

North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC)
NACAC offers education, parent support, research, and advocacy in the U.S. and Canada, around adoption and foster care issues, and it hosts a comprehensive adoption training conference each year. NACAC puts out a quarterly newsletter, and conducts training sessions and workshops on adoption subsidy, child welfare reform, and other issues related to foster care and special needs adoption.

PACT, An Adoption Alliance
Pact's goal is to create and maintain the internet's most comprehensive site addressing issues for adopted children of color, offering informative articles on related topics as well as profiles of triad members and their families, links to other internet resources, and a book reference guide with a searchable database.

U.S. State Department Information on Intercountry Adoption

This site offers detailed adoption information and statistics by country. The emphasis is on legal issues, documentation requirements, adoption fees, etc.

Adoptive Parents Committee (APC)
A non-profit parent support group comprised of volunteers dedicated to improving all aspects of adoption and interim (foster) care.

International


ComeUnity Adoption Parenting Support
A volunteer website with the motto "Come Together in Unity." Its goal is to "benefit children by building diverse communities and providing family centered support." Provides articles on adoption, adoption book reviews, and more.

China


Families with Children from China (FCC)
FCC is a nondenominational organization of families who have adopted children from China. The purpose of FCC is to provide a network of support for families who have adopted in China and to provide information to prospective adoptive parents.

Families With Children From Quzhou, China

A site for families that have adopted or will adopt from the Quzhou Social Welfare Institute in Zhejiang province, China. This site allows Quzhou families to share information and experiences.

Yangchun Adoptive Families
This is a site for families who have adopted or are planning to adopt from Yangchun City, Guangdong province, China. It contains travel information, photographs and stories, and an email list for group members.

Yangchun Kids
This site is dedicated to information about Yangchun City, the Social Welfare Institute and families with children from Yangchun.

Zhuzhou Adoptive Families
This web site is for families who have received a referral or adopted from Zhuzhou Orphanage in Hunan province, China. You can learn about Hunan and Zhuzhou, join over 300 families in the Zhuzhou Families e-group, and purchase note cards to support the daily care and welfare of Zhuzhou children.

India

ICHILD: India Adoption, Information, Support & Resources
ICHILD offers support to families who have adopted or are considering adopting children from India. ICHILD mailing lists allow parents to share their information, experience and advice with each other.

Latin America


Latin America Parents Association (LAPA) NY Chapter
LAPA is a volunteer association of adoptive parents committed to aiding people seeking to adopt children from Latin America as well as those who already have. This site also has links to other LAPA chapters.

Russia


Adoptions from Russia - Russian Adoption Medical Services
This site focuses on medical issues related to adoption from Russia. The site features information about Russian medical terminology, links to other Russian adoption resources, bulletin boards, and a Russian adoption newsletter by email.

Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption (FRUA)
FRUA is a nonprofit support network for adoptive families with children from the former Soviet Union. Volunteer adoptive families help others during all stages of adoption.

Vietnam

AdoptVietnam
AdoptVietnam describes itself as "an indepth guide to resources and information on travel to Vietnam, Vietnamese culture, and adoption from Vietnam." It includes the "Adoptive Parents of Vietnam" mailing list.
