Merry Christmas, 1999
By Mary Anne Williams

Written with much love,
Derek, Mary Anne and Samantha

T'was the night before "Christmas"
it was April 26th.
Not in December as usual.
Our story is like this.

We traveled to China,
to find our dear girl.
We waited so long,
for our sweet Asian pearl.

The next morning came,
we hardly did sleep.
We were soon to be parents,
a baby to keep.

We peered over the balcony
to the lobby below.
We saw so many little ones,
a new family to know.

Up the stairs they did march
as we all held our tears.
The beginning of memories
to last many years.

Maggie proudly stepped up
holding baby number one.
"Yang Bao Ping, meet your Mommy"!
Oh no, I'm not done.

She looked straight at us
with a twinkle in her eye.
It was our daughter, Samantha!
We tried not to cry.

She was dressed all in red
from her head to her toe.
Red means good fortune,
so the custom does go.

We held her and kissed her
and thanked God above.
We are finally complete
and so full of love.

It's been more than a year
since that wonderful day.
We are blessed with each other
and together we shall stay.

Without family and friends
our dreams wouldn't be true.
We wouldn't be "us"
thanks to all of you.

May your holidays be fruitful.
May your hearts be light.
May your wishes come true
and your stars be bright.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, 1999!!
