Julia's Story
By Sarah
My name is *Sarah and I am the adoptive parent
of Julia Marie Jingru. It is our hope that you
will share our story with your readers in honor
of "National Adoption Month" and that
our story along with others may encourage someone
to consider building their family through adoption.
Over 2 years ago, I realized in order to have
a family I would need to adopt. I reviewed several
adoption agencies and settled on Alliance for
Children, and entered their China program. Vivian
Cone was assigned as my social worker. The home
study, and associated paperwork, was long and
intrusive, but Vivian alleviated the concerns
I felt during this time and worked with me to
finish everything.
Then in April of 1997 my paperwork went to
China. The long wait was over in Feb of 1998
when I received a picture of a gorgeous little
girl - Ma Jingru. It was a dream come true.
On April 19, my sister and I boarded the flight
to Asia. We took a week's vacation in Tokyo
and Beijing, and then flew to Hefei - Anhui
province for the big day. And on April 27, 1998,
we became a family. It was the most joyous occasion
of my life.
We spent the next 10 days in Hefei and Guangzhou,
and then began the 24 hour journey back to Boston.
These past 6 months have been the best days
of my life, and I anticipate many more to come.
Julia has quickly overcome all of her delayed
motor skills - and walks, talks, laughs, plays
just like any other 19 month old. She has bonded
extremely well with her family, and just loves
life to the fullest. Recently, we had our 6
month post adoption visit with Vivian at the
Alliance office - and we both thanked Vivian
for bringing us together.
There are many more children like my daughter
who need homes. They need families, and someone
who will bond and love them and give them the
love they deserve. My daughter has brought a
new world to me, one that I prayed for many
years. I am so proud of her, love her so much,
and wish to thank the Alliance for Children
in Wellesley for everything they did to bring
us together - we are forever grateful.
Sincerely,
Sarah
proud parent of Julia
