Sam's Story
By Mary Anne Williams

Hi. My name is Mary Anne Williams. My husband
Derek and I adopted an ANGEL from China through
Alliance. We recently moved from Evans, Georgia
to El Paso, Texas. Yes, we are a military family.
We brought Samantha home May 7th, 1998 and couldn't
have been more pleased with Alliance's professionalism.
We were quite nervous about becoming parents,
traveling half way around the world and many,
many other things. Anyway, Alliance and all
of their staff became our "second family."
They made our dreams come true and gave us our
Sam, our FAMILY! We couldn't have "made"
a more beautiful, adoring, silly girl - when
we look into her eyes, we see magic!
Our story is complicated yet with a wonderful
ending. We have a VERY loving and generous family...
my 8 brothers and sisters and their children
got together Christmas 1996, and in lieu of
gifts (now remember, there were children involved),
pooled their money together and sent us a check
so that we could afford our Samantha!
After years of frustrating infertility regimes,
we were ready to adopt. Now, where do we begin?
Finally, after exhausting research, we decided
on The Alliance For Children. Alliance was recommended
by another couple that adopted from China. Experience
spoke volumes to my husband and me, so with
Alliance our journey began.
From the very beginning, Alliance held our
hands through all of the paperwork and completion
of our dossier. Then they wiped our tears as
we waited for our assignment. When we thought
that nothing was really happening, Alliance
called. Our daughter, Samantha, was REAL!
Our trip to China was fabulous! Alliance organized
everything. All we had to do was pack and show
up at the airport. It was that simple. Their
staff in China thought of everything and treated
us like family. We were scared to death... becoming
parents, more paperwork... YIKES! But it all
went off without any problems. Alliance is very
organized, diligent and professional, but most
of all, they really care about each and every
family.
Because of Alliance, we are now complete. How
does one thank a group of extraordinary people
for making your dreams come true? You thank
them by helping others.
Feel free to tell our story... it's a WONDERFUL
one! Also, both my husband and I would be more
than happy to "talk" to anyone interested
in adoption with Alliance via the internet.
Keep up the fabulous work and send our love
to everyone at Alliance... they work very hard
and don't get near enough credit! They are our
family!
Sincerely,
Mary Anne Williams
