(Domestic) Adoption Program
Domestic adoption has emerged from the shadows
in recent years, opening up exciting new options
for placing infants of all races to residents
of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In the interest
of time, we encourage prospective parents to work
simultaneously with our two approaches for finding
a child.
Parent-Initiated Placement
In this placement, the couple chooses to work
with an attorney or adoption agency, located locally
or in another state, or uses other legal means
to locate a birthmother who is considering releasing
her child for adoption. This process can be complex
and our social workers will provide information
to help clients sort through the alternatives.
Alliance Placement
Occasionally, birthmothers and agencies contact
Alliance directly for placement of their children
with families who meet their criteria. In this
instance, we locate a birthmother for you. Since
there is no predicting the availability of a match,
Alliance requests that you also become actively
involved in a parent-initiated program.
